News from Micki Schloessingk at Bridge Pottery - November 2011

Christmas Exhibition and Sale 2011
Saturday 26th and Sunday 27th of November
10 am – 5 pm

We hope you will be able to make it to our annual Christmas show this year. The fire will be warming the gluwien and mince pies - and we are told we make the best local coffee!

I have been making bowls, cups and a new series of tea pots.  There will also be modest items such as buttons, as well as our festive candleholders.

Fleen has been developing some lovely incised, patterned decorations in her work, which will also be for sale.

The annual Christmas Exhibition is earlier this year, so we hope you can make it, drink some gluwein - and maybe find a few Christmas presents

Courses, Summer 2012

Next summer I will be offering small, intimate workshops where students can learn, reflect and share in a calm, supportive environment.  There will be plenty of demonstration and together we will explore different throwing, hand-building, and decorating techniques, with an emphasis on mindfulness.

The ‘Large Pot Making’ course from last summer (with Joanna Howells and myself) was such a success that we will be bringing it back again this coming summer.

Details for the courses can be found on the website: see here
Please do contact me if you are interested.

I am looking into the possibility of booking the Lodge Basecamp, a National Trust bunk house situated on the edge of Whitford Burrows.  It is within minutes of the sea and walking distance of Bridge Pottery.

News from Fleen - Staying On

Having completed my year long apprenticeship on the ‘Adopt a Potter’ scheme, I am happy to say I am staying on at Bridge Pottery.  In August we celebrated with an exhibition of my pots made during my apprenticeship, see here. Thanks to everyone who came, it was a lovely day!

I have recently had an article published in Ceramic Review, ‘Learning Through Apprenticeship’

Fleen’s Evening Class

On Wednesday evenings I run a beginners evening throwing class in the studio.  Although my group class is now booked until Christmas, do get in touch if you are interested in the next course, which will start in January see courses.  I also offer individual tuition and can arrange gift vouchers for Christmas!
