Clay

I import and sell a stoneware clay produced by Solargil from St Amand en Puisaye, near La Borne in France.

T40 is a throwing clay and 0.05is  a groggy clay.

This clay has traditionally been used in this region of France to produce wood fired salt glaze, pots, tiles and bricks. The clay is high in silica and very carbonaceous, almost black when soft and dries grey.
The clay is rich in minerals, very plastic and lovely to throw.
The combination of flame, ash deposits and salt vapour passing through the kiln produces subtle shades of colour and a soft satiny texture on the fired clay.
