August Five Day Course
Date:
30 Jul 2012 - 03 Aug 2012
Cost (GBP):
£250
After last summer's successful course, I am again offering a five day course to students serious about improving their throwing and making skills. This may appeal to those of you who lack making time and tuition and want an opportunity to focus and practice.
Every morning we will practice throwing, and explore the development of forms and making in series. During the course there will be a brief introduction to the use of slips for wood firing and salt glazing. It will be possible for students to leave a few pots to be included in the subsequent firing, for which there is a charge. In the afternoons students will have the choice of using the studios to continue their work or may choose to spend time exploring Gower. The Gower peninsula offers a wonderful coastline with plenty of activities. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()
Accommodation
For this course I have provisionally booked the Lodge Basecamp, a National Trust bunk house situated on the edge of Whitford Burrows. It offers very modestly priced accomodation with ten bunk beds, a well equipped kitchen, showers and a sitting room with wood stove. It is also located minutes from the sea within easy walking distance of Bridge Pottery.
To secure our use of the lodge I need to confirm numbers well in advance. So please let me know as soon as possible if you wish to stay there. My idea is to enable students to combine doing a course here at Bridge Pottery with having a bit of a holiday with friends or family who could also stay at the Lodge.
‘Being in a small group it was easy to ask for individual help. The combination of demonstrations alongside hands-on practice was very balanced and effective for learning new skills’
